Team USA's Starting Pitchers for the 2023 World Baseball Classic (2026)

San Francisco Giants' star pitcher, Logan Webb, will be the starting pitcher for Team USA's opening match in the World Baseball Classic against Brazil. This announcement was made by manager Mark DeRosa on Monday, revealing the lineup for the tournament. DeRosa also mentioned that the two-time defending AL Cy Young Award winner, Tarik Skubal, will pitch on Saturday against Britain, followed by NL Cy Young winner Paul Skenes facing Mexico on Monday. Despite an illness, New York Mets right-hander Nolan McLean is tentatively scheduled to start on Tuesday against Italy. DeRosa assured that the team has a well-planned strategy, considering pitch counts and individual players' preparation for their respective teams' opening days. The U.S. team will play two exhibition games in Arizona before traveling to Houston for the WBC opener. Skenes will pitch on Tuesday, and other pitchers like Matthew Boyd, Gabe Speier, David Bednar, Griffin Jax, and Mason Miller will also take the mound. Skubal is expected to make only one start for the U.S. before returning to the Detroit Tigers for the rest of spring training.
